In short: we collect only what we need to run EconoGlance for you, we never sell your data or use it for ads, you can delete your account and data at any time, and we are built to comply fully with Apple App Store and Google Play requirements.

1. Who we are

EconoGlance ("EconoGlance", "we", "us") is a mobile app for iOS and Android, and this website at econoglance.com, that helps people split and track shared expenses. The data controller responsible for your information is Shaheer Shahid Malik, an individual developer based in Lahore, Pakistan.

You can reach us about privacy at any time at support@econoglance.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have.

2. Data we collect

We collect only what we need to run the app for you and your groups:

  • Account data: your email address, and optionally a display name, an avatar (a cartoon you pick or a photo you upload), and a password if you choose to set one.
  • Content you create: the expenses you log (amount, title, category, date, notes), the groups and members you add, balances and settlements, subscriptions you track, and payment method labels or handles you type in (for example "Cash", "Bank transfer", or a PayPal/Venmo handle).
  • Receipt images: if you use receipt scanning, the photo you capture is sent securely to our AI provider only to read the merchant, total and line items. Images are not used to train models.
  • Diagnostic and usage data: app version, device model, operating system, crash logs, and basic aggregated usage events that help us keep the app reliable.

We do not collect your precise location, health data, biometric data, advertising identifiers (such as IDFA), or payment card numbers. Camera and photo access is used only when you scan or upload an image, and only with your permission.

3. How we use your data

  • To provide and sync the app's features across your devices and groups.
  • To sign you in securely (passwordless magic link or one-time code).
  • To read receipts you choose to scan.
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot problems.
  • To understand, in aggregate, how features are used so we can improve them.
  • To meet legal obligations.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers that help us run EconoGlance, and only so they can perform services for us under contract:

  • Hosting and database — to store and sync your account and content.
  • AI receipt processing — to extract text from receipts you scan.
  • Email delivery — to send sign-in codes and service emails from addresses such as no-reply@econoglance.com.
  • App distribution and billing — Apple and Google process EconoGlance Pro purchases through the App Store and Google Play.
  • Service logos — for subscriptions, we look up a company logo from a public logo service using the website you enter.

We require these providers to protect your data and use it only for our instructions. We are not a data broker, we do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We may disclose data if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or in connection with a business transfer, in which case we will tell you.

6. International transfers

We operate from Pakistan, and our providers may process data on servers in other countries, including the United States and the European Union. Where data leaves your country, we rely on our providers' contractual protections (such as Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable) to keep it protected to the standard described here.

7. How long we keep data

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data, except for limited records we are required to keep by law (for example, records relating to a purchase) which we retain only for as long as necessary and then delete. Store-side purchase and tax records are held by Apple and Google under their own policies.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct data that is inaccurate.
  • Delete your account and data.
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent.
  • Complain to your local data protection authority.

You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or email support@econoglance.com. We respond within 30 days and never charge for a reasonable request. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

9. Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile → Settings → Account → Delete account in the app, or by emailing us. Full instructions and what is removed are on our Data deletion page. Deletion is permanent.

10. Children

EconoGlance is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us data, email support@econoglance.com and we will delete it.

11. How we protect your data

We encrypt data in transit, restrict access to it, and keep sensitive processing keys on our servers rather than in the app. Sign-in is passwordless by default. Read more on our Security page. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your email account safe and review who is in your groups.

12. App Store & Play data disclosures

The data described here is reflected in our Apple App Store privacy details (the "privacy nutrition label") and our Google Play Data safety section, and those disclosures are kept consistent with this policy. In line with Apple's App Tracking Transparency, we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites and use no advertising SDKs, so no tracking permission prompt is required.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves or the law changes. We will post the new version here with a new "last updated" date, and for material changes we will give you notice in the app or by email.

App Store & Google Play compliance

EconoGlance is built and operated to comply fully with the Apple App Store Review Guidelines and with the Google Play Developer Program Policies and Developer Distribution Agreement.

This includes, without limitation, their requirements on: privacy and data handling (Apple Guideline 5.1 and Google Play's User Data policy and Data safety disclosures); account and data deletion (Apple Guideline 5.1.1(v) and Google Play's account-deletion requirement — see our Data deletion page); auto-renewable subscriptions (Apple Guideline 3.1.2 and Google Play's subscription policies); App Tracking Transparency (we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and use no advertising identifiers or third-party ad SDKs); and children's privacy.

We are committed to 100% compliance with these programs. If any part of the app or these documents is ever found not to meet a store requirement, we will promptly correct it and bring the app into full compliance.
